Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the SayClip app (“the app”, “we”, “us”) handles your information. SayClip is operated by Darak (“we”).

In short

SayClip has no sign-up and no login. We do not collect your name, email, or any information that identifies you. Your learning data (progress, saved sentences, reminder settings) is stored on your device and is not sent to or kept on our servers in any form that identifies you. Voice recordings are processed entirely on your device and deleted right away. To improve the app, we only collect anonymous usage statistics that do not identify you, including what you type into the app’s search box.

1. Information we collect

We do not collect any personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, or phone number. There is no account to create and no sign-in.

The following data is stored on your device. We do not read it or keep it on our servers in any form that identifies you (anonymous usage statistics are covered in Section 3):

All of this data is removed when you delete the app.

2. Microphone and voice

When you practice pronunciation (shadowing), the app records your voice through the microphone. This voice data is handled as follows:

  • The recording is written only to a temporary location on your device.
  • Speech recognition runs entirely on your device. Neither the audio nor the recognized text is sent to us or to any external server.
  • The temporary recording is deleted immediately when you finish or re-record.

We never collect or store your voice.

3. Analytics we collect to improve the app

To understand how the Service is used and to improve it, we collect anonymous usage statistics that do not identify you. This analysis is done through Google’s Firebase Analytics.

  • Purpose: Analyzing how the Service is used and improving features and content.
  • Search terms: We collect these to see which actors, shows, and expressions learners look for, so we can add the content they cannot find. Before a search term is sent it is simplified (lowercased, with spaces and punctuation removed) and shortened, and it is never combined with information that identifies you. Please do not type personal information into the search box.
  • No advertising use: We do not use an advertising identifier (IDFA), and we do not use this data for advertising or personalized marketing.
  • Processing and international transfer: This analytics data is processed and stored through Firebase Analytics, operated by Google LLC (USA).
  • Retention: Data is kept according to Firebase Analytics’ retention policy and automatically deleted afterward.

You can stop this collection by deleting the app.

4. Data processed by our infrastructure providers

Although we do not collect personal information ourselves, the app must communicate with the services below to function. In doing so, each provider may automatically process limited technical data such as your IP address or device identifiers. We do not use this data to identify you.

  • Payments: Subscription payments are processed through Apple’s App Store. Payment details such as your card number are handled by Apple and are never shared with us.
  • Content delivery (Firebase): The app contacts Google Firebase to download learning content. We do not store any personal information on this server.
  • Video playback (YouTube): Clips play through embedded YouTube. When they do, Google/YouTube may collect data under its own policy, governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

5. Data retention

We do not collect or store your personal data on any server. The learning data kept on your device is deleted when you delete the app. Anonymous usage statistics are retained and deleted under Firebase Analytics’ policy, as described in Section 3.

6. Cookies and tracking

The app itself does not use advertising cookies or advertising tracking identifiers (such as IDFA). Anonymous usage analytics are collected as described in Section 3. Google/YouTube may use cookies when a clip video is played inside the app.

7. Your choices

  • You can revoke the microphone permission at any time in your device settings.
  • You can erase all learning data stored on your device by deleting the app.
  • You can review or cancel your subscription in the App Store subscription settings on your device.

8. Children

SayClip is not directed to children under the age of 14, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
